CATALYZING HEALTH FINANCING FOR NCDs

The Financing Accelerator Network for NCDs is driven by the fundamental belief that addressing financing is one of the most effective ways to make a lasting difference to LMICs’ capacity to respond to NCDs—including cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular and chronic respiratory diseases, and mental and neurological disorders—and, ultimately, to improve the health and lives of people around the world.

By sparking new learnings, responding to country needs and priorities, promoting locally sourced innovations, adapting global knowledge to country and regional contexts, and connecting global experts and local decision makers, FAN is designed to drive the action needed to close the NCD financing gap in LMICs across Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America & the Caribbean, and Asia Pacific.

Responding to country needs and priorities

As a globally supported, locally relevant, demand-driven catalyst for change, FAN has been rigorously designed based on years of firsthand experience with health system financing for NCDs as well as direct feedback from governments and other health stakeholders. This has enabled us to refine an approach to best respond to the needs of LMICs and ensure a sustainable impact.

Three interconnected areas of action

The regional NCD Financing Accelerators focus on three interconnected functions to identify and catalyze effective, sustainable financing models for NCDs:

FAN Forum

Cross-country learning

The FAN Forum is a supportive community of learners that grows and evolves based on the needs and priorities of its members. This community fosters:

  • Joint problem-solving through both in-person and virtual convenings.
  • Knowledge generation by co-creating tools and resources with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge adaptation by working with countries to tailor insights to their unique contexts, enabling continuous collaboration and peer learning.

FAN Fund

Catalytic seed funding to advance NCD financing programs

Through the FAN Fund, we offer catalytic seed funding to in-country NCD initiatives and programs with strong potential to impact health financing for NCDs. This seed funding can fuel innovative practices, support policy and program development, support or create health financing components within existing programs, and enable the scale-up of successful approaches.
