Download 2024 FAN Annual Report
The Financing Accelerator Network for NCDs (FAN) has released its inaugural Annual Report, highlighting important strides in strengthening financing for noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Established through a technical partnership between Access Accelerated and the World Bank, in close cooperation with Results for Development (R4D), FAN has made achieved major milestones in just six months.
A key highlight of this period was the launch of the first regional NCD Financing Accelerator in Sub-Saharan Africa, hosted by the African Institute for Development Policy (AFIDEP). FAN has also established a Technical Advisory Group, which is already providing valuable guidance to refine its work agenda.
Another major achievement is the ground-breaking NCD Financing Landscaping Study for Sub-Saharan Africa, led by the AFIDEP with support from R4D. This study, initiated in 2024, will provide critical insights to ensure FAN’s initiatives align with country-specific needs and deliver targeted solutions.
Looking ahead
FAN has set an ambitious agenda for the coming year, with several major milestones:
Welcoming the first country members from Sub-Saharan Africa into the network.
Publishing the full findings of the NCD Financing Landscaping Study.
Awarding FAN’s first catalytic seed funding grants to support NCD financing initiatives.
Launching a second regional NCD Financing Accelerator in Latin America and the Caribbean.
As country engagement grows, FAN is solidifying its role as a leading platform in NCD financing. By leveraging expertise from the World Bank, R4D, AFIDEP, and other partners, FAN is well-positioned to drive meaningful progress—particularly in an environment of increasing fiscal pressures on health systems worldwide.
